Job Summary:

To provide support to our Business Support team and to the wider business by producing SQL based reports through SQL Server Reporting Services, and develop simple-to-use applications working stand-alone and with Microsoft Office products for general use by the Association.

The role will also involve managing the setup and access to the Association's databases, assisting with the monitoring of data integrity and links between databases and carrying out data uploads as required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Produce accurate, robust and attractive documents and reports available to users through SQL Server Reporting Services.

2. Create simple to use, well commented and maintainable programmes based around Microsoft Office applications and/or the Association's database-based applications.

3. To test new systems thoroughly before going live and provide training to users before and after implementation.

4. To provide and maintain user manuals and documentation of the coding, setup and use of all software, reports and processes created.

5. Assist the Business Support and other teams within the Association to correctly specify new systems and reports prior to development.

6. Maintain a sufficient understanding of the use of different databases throughout the Association from both the front and back ends to be able to talk to staff about their function and provide support as necessary.

7. To work with the Head of IT, the Head of Business Support, the Projects & Communications Team Leader, and other Hightown staff to perform periodic data audits and keep records up to date and accurate.

8. To carry out necessary preparatory work and to provide accurate and correctly formatted files for uploading into various databases.

9. To keep up to date with changes made to the Association's databases and making users aware of key developments that may affect them.

10. To co-operate with the periodic review of this job description.

Additional Duties:

1. To maintain the appropriate level of skills necessary to do the job.

2. To contribute to and adhere to the Association's financial regulations, standing orders, policies and procedures, in particular: Health & Safety, Confidentiality, Equal Opportunities, Data Protection and Customer Care.

3. Any other reasonable duties at the request of the Head of IT, the Director of Business Transformation or the Chief Executive.

  • Good understanding of what makes IT systems work or not from both a technical and user standpoint
  • Ability to understand systems and processes from a Human as well as IT perspective.
  • Ability to extract and use data in tables across many different formats
