Established in 2010, Gower College Swansea is one of the largest Further Education Colleges in Wales and one of the sector's leading lights. The College has over 4,500 full time and 8,000 part time learners from across Swansea and neighbouring counties. It operates from 6 locations across the City and County of Swansea and has a current turnover of just under £37m with over 800 staff. The College receives excellent feedback from its students and has a reputation for delivering the highest standards of teaching and learning. Maintaining this profile is a key strategic priority for the College, as it builds upon its solid foundations and continues to grow organically.

The Role
  • To demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities of creating vision, delivering strategy, setting direction, improving and managing services within the Curriculum and Quality area.
  • To provide leadership and management of all the College's curriculum and quality assurance processes that will, in turn, ensure innovative and effective delivery of teaching, learning and assessment and excellent performance across all college provision.
  • To ensure consistently high standards of teaching, learning and skills acquisition throughout the whole College and promote excellence in learning and learners' progress.
  • To develop innovative strategies to ensure that the targets for learners' retention, pass rate, achievement (including grades) and progression into positive destinations are achieved and learners are well prepared for their future, both professionally and personally.
  • To lead on the curriculum plan for the whole College, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting college income targets.
The Candidate
  • A track record of senior leadership and management within a further education, training provider, or related educational setting.
  • Well-developed strategic skills with proven experience of developing, agreeing, and driving the implementation of corporate-wide strategy.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills, with an empowering and positive leadership style that inspires staff at all levels of an organisation.
