The ESOL team is primarily based in our historic Llwyn Y Bryn campus, located in the Uplands area of Swansea. Further ESOL provision is offered at both city centre and community venues.
Gower College Swansea currently has just under 1,000 ESOL learners, ranging from a wide variety of backgrounds, who are looking to develop their English Language skills with a view to progressing onto higher levels of learning or employment.
To cater for increasing demand, we are now in a position to significantly grow our ESOL provision and are seeking applications from outstanding individuals to deliver exceptional teaching and learning experiences for our ESOL learners.
Holding a relevant degree, you will possess a CELTA Certificate (or Level 5 equivalent) and have knowledge and experience of teaching non-native speakers of English. Both previous and recent experience of teaching ESOL would be advantageous.
Successful applicants will develop and employ a variety of teaching and learning strategies, including the use of ILT, delivering successful outcomes for our students and assisting the team in achieving targets for retention and attainment.
Successful applicants must be committed to continuous improvement and quality and have a sincere desire to help our students achieve. A clear and confident communicator, you will have excellent organisational, leadership and problem solving skills and the ability to work flexibly, on your own initiative and as part of a team.
Applicants should ideally possess a recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, or be prepared to work towards one (Gower College Swansea offers an internal PGCE programme).
