Data Protection Manager (Financial Services Sector)

The role
Data Protection Manager required to build a Data Protection Team and take accountability for ensuring the Data Protection Framework is robust and in line with industry peers. The role reports to the DPO and is essential in ensuring that the business complies with the relevant data protection laws, in particular GDPR, and highlighting any potential and actual issues to the appropriate management up to and including the Board.

The Data Protection Manager will lead in providing assistance and guidance on all data protection related matters under the GDPR to all staff within the organisation. This role will ensure that all the required records and processes relating to data protection and data privacy are in place and regularly reviewed and gaps addressed.

The Data Protection Manager will deputise for the DPO when required and is expected to have a wide business profile.
The Data Protection Manager will have the necessary skills, gravitas and experience in data protection laws, information security and business processes to be able to assist in providing advice on data protection and data privacy issues to all levels of management throughout Target Group.

About you
The successful Data Protection Manager should have the following experience:
- Sound knowledge of Data Protection Legislation
- Significant experience in Data Protection and Privacy practices
- Significant experience in Information Security within the business and technology
- Demonstrable experience of managing supplier relationships
- Ability to define effective policies, processes, controls and metrics
- Ability to monitor the effectiveness of controls
- Methodical approach to incident resolution
- Experience in Financial Services sector of similar highly regulated environment

Any of the following would be a bonus:
- Data Protection and/or Privacy certification eg CDPO, CIPP, CIPM, CIPT
- Information Security certification eg CISSP, CISM
- Data Protection and Privacy experience across multiple jurisdictions
- Familiarisation of ISO27001
- Knowledge of PCI-DSS
