Perkins Coie LLP has an immediate opening for a SCRUM Master to serve as a member of the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), which provides project management, business systems analysis, and subject matter expertise to define, develop, and implement integrated business and technology solutions for the firm. The successful candidate must assume the role of ScrumMaster and be responsible for driving agile thinking, mentoring EPMO team members, and coaching Scrum and development teams. Drive dependencies between projects that run with waterfall and agile methodologies. As a servant leader, the Scrum Master partners closely within IT and the project stakeholders on project planning, forms and leads the scrum team, champions continuous improvement, and partners with the project and product managers in the responsive delivery of solutions.SCRUM Master Skills Required:


Strong working knowledge of, and ability to, apply agile theory, rules, and practices, such as Scrum and Kanban.

Ability to successfully challenge and change our approach to project management and software development.

Ability to coach colleagues on how to follow agile methodologies.

Understand the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development.

Responsible for leading the scrum teams and process to create useful, reliable, and practical plans for software development projects.

Responsible for tracking and removing roadblocks for the scrum teams.

Responsible for facilitating daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo, and retrospective meetings.

Project Management Skills Required:


Ability to build strong working relationships with legal timekeepers, management, sponsors, IT, and stakeholders.

Excellent communication, facilitation, conflict mediation, and situational awareness skills.

Ability to explain technical concepts and costs/benefits to non-technical personnel.

Strong knowledge of waterfall project methodology and the ability to manage all phases and components of projects, including initiation, planning, executing, and closing.

Expertly estimate and plan budgets, milestones, and deliverables.

Ability to shield the team from outside distractions and interference.

Ability to work independently with limited direction.

Ability to think creatively and act nimbly to complete projects.

Preferred Skills:Working knowledge of the legal or other professional service industry experience. Ability to use project management software such as Smartsheet. Working knowledge and experience with a source code build and release system such as Azure DevOps. Some experience with software development and the ability to communicate with developers on technical topics such as the Microsoft .NET stack is preferred.

Education & Experience:Scrum Master certification is required. At least three years of verifiable experience in an agile and Scrum environment 3+ years of experience working directly with software development teams, product owners, and cross-functional teams. Requires a minimum of three years of relevant project coordination or project management experience, or equivalent. Bachelors degree preferred. Understanding of the Project Management Lifecycle and Software Development Life Cycle methodology. Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desired, but not required.
