Intranet Content Editor

3 months | London | £30.05ph through umbrella | Inside IR35

My Government client is seeking a talented Intranet Content Editor for an exciting 3 month project in central London.

The successful Intranet Content Editor will be part of the Communications Team and will work with content providers across the organisation to create and publish information on the Intranet.

The department's SharePoint-based Intranet was launched a year ago and they have recently initiated a programme of work to rewrite, restructure and (when necessary) rewrite the content of the Intranet, which is made up of approx. 200 pages.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Work with content owners to create content for new pages or edit exiting pages to meet business and customer objectives
  • Advising on tone of voice and style of content
  • Support communications team members to improve existing content
  • Web publishing (SharePoint)
  • Carry out content review to identify outdated content and apply the accessibility requirements
  • Apply and promote Intranet and publishing standards amongst content owners (eg accessibility guidance, style guide, content strategy, naming convention for files)
  • Produce monthly Intranet analytics to develop a better understanding of the content performance

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong copywriting and editing skills
  • Proven experience with writing and editing for digital channels (website or Intranet)
  • Proven experience with content management systems
  • UK public sector experience
  • A good understanding of accessibility requirements and web writing best practice
  • Familiarity with content design, user journeys and user needs
  • Good attention to detail
  • Intranet/web editing
  • Content management systems (Sharepoint, Microsoft Content Management)
  • Working on specific communications (campaign or providing information to staff)
  • Experience working with large organisations
  • Leading a migration project
  • GDS qualifications (Government Digital Standards)
