ERP Application Specialist - SAP, Oracle Workday - Worthing, West Sussex

Permanent position paying up to £55,000 plus excellent benefits, based in Worthing (South Coast)

A leading technology strong professional services company seek an experienced ERP Application Specialist, ideally with strong SAP skills, but they may consider other similar related products such as Oracle and Workday. Therefore a excellent technical knowledge and experience in SAP ERP Modules, other ERP experience like Oracle, Workday etc will be acceptable if demonstrable ability to switch between ERP products.

Vacancy Description Overall purpose of the ERP Application Specialist role:

My client is currently going through an exciting IT transformation which will strategically change the way it delivers IT support and services to its business and end users. To help support this strategic initiative, a new IT Application services unit is being introduced, which will become the delivery unit for its end users requiring IT support and services along with support delivering strategic and tactical projects.

This position is part of Application services team helping deliver the departments overall objectives in the short and long term. The role will be expected to liaise with the Solution Architecture, Service delivery and project delivery counterparts, to ensure that the applications are supported & projects are delivered to the highest standards.

Scope of the ERP Application Specialist position:

  • Implement new business application software, capturing end user requirements and configuring, testing and integrating as necessary.

  • Support new project implementation aligned with business objective and solution architecture.

  • Implement new releases of existing business application software, capturing end user requirements and configuring, testing and integrating as necessary.

  • Provide 2nd line support (L2-4 as applicable) for business applications under role scope

  • Produce specifications and designs for application and its components to meet defined business needs, retaining compatibility with enterprise and solution architectures.

  • Specify, design and maintain mechanisms for storage and access to both structured and unstructured information, in support of business information needs.

  • Design, create, test and document new and amended programme components, configuration, SQL, packages, code base and programs from supplied specifications in accordance with agreed standards.

  • Develop, implement and report the findings of suitable test schedules to measure and improve the quality of application solutions being deployed, to ensure that new and amended systems, configurations, packages, or services, together with any interfaces, perform as specified.

  • Integrate and test components and/or subsystems and their interfaces in order to create operational services.

  • Provide estimates for scope of works and associated resourcing requirements for project planning purposes.

  • Follow the agreed architecture, design patterns and the software development methodology.

  • Develop and deliver programs as per the requirements and coding guidelines with minimal supervision, & within the budget and timeframe.

    Major accountabilities of role:

  • Responsible for application support and Continual Improvement taking into account functional and non-functional requirements 50%.

  • Work with an Implementation Partner/contractors to coordinate the development/implementation of services/application/component and the Configuration Management Database 20%.

  • Performing integration and process automation as per support or project need 10%.

  • Performing system and integration testing 10%.

  • Implementing IT quality assurance practices and procedures 10%.

Experience and capability requirements for the ERP Application Specialist position:

  • Excellent technical knowledge and experience in SAP ERP Modules, other ERP experience like Oracle, Workday etc will be acceptable if demonstrable ability to switch between ERP products.

  • Experience of working in large scale and complex SAP ERP environments.

  • Proven hands-on experience of SAP ERP support, configuration and integration.

  • Excellent understanding of configuration dependencies and integration points between different functional modules of SAP.

  • Excellent technical knowledge and experience in SAP ERP Process.

  • Experience of working in large scale and complex SAP environments.

  • Good understanding on Linux & Windows operating systems & Oracle Databases.

  • Good understanding on SAP system backup and System refresh.

  • Strong Technical and problem solving skills Capability:

  • Act as point of contact for SAP ERP related technical issues to project and support teams.

  • In-depth knowledge of SAP ERP process with a proven track record of supporting, implementing and improving applications.
