The Data Analyst supports the Reporting and Performance department at the New Orleans contract of all application databases and the tools used to access these databases. Responsibilities include gathering and managing data, developing reports; working directly with the operational team to produce spreadsheets to help improve performance; understanding and anticipating the needs of various stakeholders in order to properly support the group's mission with data and produce actionable reports in a timely manner.
This position will also work with and reporting to the Manager of Reporting & Run Cutting to ensure all reporting requirements are met and all interfaces between systems are maintained and running properly.
Create reports in Excel and using various systems for data querying directly in SQL tables for purpose of analysis: Use data to run a variety of analytics models that can help drive decision-making for both tactical and strategic purposes including assessments of existing service modules and process improvement
Perform analysis of trends of technical data, or other information (Fixed route maintenance), that may have an impact on one area of the business.
Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databasesdata systems; Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
Create operational reports for presentation to management for Operations and Maintenance meetings. Concentration on data content and visual presentation.
Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality to track and report on key client & corporate metrics to drive retention, improve efficiency, and enhance value to all stakeholders
Filter and clean data by reviewing computer reports and performance indicators to locate and correct data collection issues. Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
This person must also be able to handle competing priorities with the ability to identify urgent and critical priorities for the business.

Education : BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics or related field or a combination of related education and experience
Strong reporting skills in MS Excel (pivot tables, macros, etc.) and MS Access.
Ability to manage large, complex sets of data that need to be queried and manipulated in order to make important business decisions
Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
Knowledge in creating SQL queries is highly beneficial in addition to statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, Power BI, SPSS, SAS, R, Python etc)
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
Very strong abilities in Excel for creation of various reports and spreadsheets is a must
Experience with Microsoft Office and related Oracle languagesscripts
Understanding of development tools and their correlation to database structures
Must have excellent presentation skills with experience in operating a data base, word processing software, spreadsheet and a graphics package
Must have strong interpersonal skills
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong time management skills
Ability and willingness to learn applications and provide support
Strong organizational skills.
Analytical problem solving skills along with ability to solve problems in a practical and pragmatic manner
Ability to work efficiently and accurately with little direct supervision
