Energy Operations Analyst

Salary: 25k - £28k (dependent upon experience)

Based: Green Lane, Walsall or Fulbourn Road, Cambridge

Hours: 37 Hours Monday - Friday

As a leading water company, South Staffs Water, incorporating Cambridge Water, is recognised throughout the UK's water industry for delivering outstanding service and high quality standards to approximately 1.6 million household and business customers.

We have a really exciting opening for an Energy Operations Analyst who will play an integral part in forecasting energy and shaping the efficient and effective operation of the water supply across both South Staffs and Cambridge regions.

You will be responsible for the analysis of operational data in order to monitor and report on performance and variances associated with the cost of water production. You will have experience of monitoring and understanding energy usage and undertaking monthly energy bill analysis coupled with analysing trends in operating costs in order to identify and implement efficiency measures. As an effective communicator you will liaise with operational staff and Senior Managers to drive down production costs.

Key to your role will be to lead driving down our costs to ensure we continue to provide our customers with low cost bills. You will also be providing data and information for regulatory and reporting purposes therefore you will have experience of producing management information reports. In addition, there is opportunity within the role to develop and improve systems used to collect and analyse data in order to maintain and improve accuracy of information.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate a proven track record of managing large amounts of data and possess a proven analytical background and excellent IT skills, particularly in the use of spreadsheets and databases (experience of OSIsoft-PI or SQL and Excel at an advanced level is desirable). A HNC or Degree is advantageous but not essential.

You will also be required to master the bespoke cost planning model using Quantrix software and report presentation software Qlikview used at the Company. Experience of SCADA systems and VBA to manipulate data would be an advantage. Training can be provided.
