About the role - Senior Java Developer
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for the interpretation of system requirements into designs and the engineering and implementation of solutions. You will also play a key role in investigating system issues and defects and providing solutions to the users of these reported issues.
The Senior Software Engineer will also mentor and develop less experienced Software Engineers and will guide and steer work being performed by the offshore team. Whilst this role has no direct line management responsibility, there is a great opportunity to develop others and improve processes and global working.
About You - Senior Java Developer
Strong Back End Java development background is essential, experience required includes:
- Knowledge of the full Java technology stack
- Open Source Frameworks - Spring, Hibernate, Struts
It would also be advantageous to have a good mix of the following skills:
- Application Server knowledge - IBM WebSphere and/or Tomcat
- RDBMS/SQL skills
You will have excellent analytical and problem solving skills as well as first class interpersonal skills and you will be capable of providing guidance and assistance to colleagues in any aspect of program design, creation, testing and documentation. You will have extensive experience working in a commercial environment and a good appreciation of the wider field of development outside your own specialization. You will have a broad understanding of computer system architecture and techniques and experience of dealing with clients and users.
My client is a leading Software and Business Solutions organisation with over 1000 staff across their offices in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. They are a dynamic, growing business with a vision to be the leading provider of software and third party servicing to the financial services and insurance sector.
In return you will receive a salary of c£45,000 plus profit related bonus scheme, 24 days annual leave (rising to a maximum of 30) and life assurance of four times your salary. On completion of the probationary period you can join the group pension plan and obtain up to a 6% match contribution into your pension plan. Access to private medical cover is also available and a flexible benefits scheme can also be enjoyed. There is also a discretionary annual bonus on offer.
