About the Job

The Product Performance Analyst's primary responsibility is to monitor the financial and underwriting performance of a Motor Breakdown Insurance product using a Matrix of predetermined parameters to ensure alignment with the products underwriting strategy, appetite and performance targets and materially contributing to the achievement of short and medium term financial plans

The Product Performance Analyst will be responsible for providing analytical input to the development of an insurance underwriting product using market knowledge and product expertise; highlighting requirements for executing pricing and underwriting strategies

You will contribute to the management of portfolio performance through the analysis and ongoing tracking of KPIs (loss ratio, frequency, GWP, etc) in order to forecast future performance of results, alongside execution of a selection and pricing strategy and providing
recommendations to actions which will drive continuous performance improvement.

You will be responsible for the production of agreed key data reporting for review and analysis of loss ratio performance lead to restructuring of individual broker schemes and/or changes to core relatives within the MBI pricing Matrix.

You will be part of the Underwriting Team and on a day to day basis using a Financial Planning Programme (TM1) and liaising very closely with the Data Warehousing team, tracking premiums and reporting back to the business with predictions for each month. You will also build new monitoring dashboards for the business producing graphs from Excel and producing PowerPoint packs.

About you

Success in this role will require the Product Performance Analyst to gain technical expertise in my client's Motor Breakdown Insurance product and will include frequent collaboration with other business functions including outsourced claims handlers to ensure a first lass service is provided in line with published standards.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong analytical expertise and commercial judgement and will have:

  • An understanding of product underwriting strategy and risk appetites with the ability to analyse performance, trend and internal/external factors to ensure achievement of a set of challenging financial targets.
  • Technical knowledge of Insurance Underwriting products including factors that drive product performance and market dynamics
  • An understanding of the Insurance Underwriting market and pricing practices including loss ratio calculations and associated methodologies
  • Knowledge of the legal, regulatory and compliance provisions that apply to the UK motor insurance market
  • The ability to analyse data and identify trents
  • Good Excel experience
  • A good understanding of the components for loss ratios

Experience in a P&L role where you have been involved in looking at everything as a whole from an accounts perspective would be advantageous.
