My client a world leading not for profit membership organisation with over 23,000 members based in the City of London is currently looking for a Planning Adviser on part time basis - 3 days a week - Monday to Wednesday set days.
Supporting the Planning Aid England (PAE) service including: Planning Aid Direct services, community planning, volunteer training, supervision and administration, business development and involvement in Planning Aid Consulting projects.
To facilitate the delivery of PADirect services including giving professional planning advice to members of the public who contact Planning Aid England by e-mail. The primary focus for this position will be the Planning Aid Direct service and volunteer management
To produce a variety of professional materials about planning matters such as advice notes, content for the website and PAD and training materials for volunteers or other clients
To work with colleagues to implement the volunteer plan including attracting, recruiting and operating the appropriate support and administration of volunteers
To work with colleagues to ensure volunteers are appropriately equipped to deliver planning support eg preparation and delivery of volunteer training
To assist with allocating, organising, co-ordinating and monitoring volunteer activities in support of PAE activity
To undertake relevant administration work to ensure up to date records of volunteer activity and advice, accurate and timely reports on deliverables and PAE advice service and efficient processing of volunteer expense claims
To establish and develop contacts with stakeholders, potential clients and communities and individuals interested in planning and in particular, disadvantaged and marginalised groups engaged in community planning, and raise awareness of PAE and the support which it can offer
To provide direct planning support when it is needed (eg fee-earning work)
To represent PAE at external meetings and events as required eg meetings with partners, joint events, workshops and conferences
To seek opportunities for Consultancy projects and provide assistance with preparation of bids for work if required
Undertake such other duties, commensurate with the post, as may be directed by the Planning Aid England Manager
Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI)
Strong decision making and problem solving skills
Good interpersonal and influencing skills
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and CRM systems
Willingness to travel outside London and occasionally work outside normal office hours
Good knowledge of Neighbourhood Planning and the provisions contained within relevant legislation, regulations, guidance and policy
Protection Regulations (GDPR) and how they apply to the role
Knowledge and understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data
Knowledge of the needs of diverse groups and disadvantaged members of the community and the ability to deal sensitively with them
