Data Architect - Purpose of the role

As part of the architecture team within Technology, you will be responsible for definition, designs and builds of data models to fulfil the strategic data needs of the company

You will undertake design, support and provide guidance for the upgrade, management, de-commission and archive of data in compliance with data policy. They also provide input into data dictionaries

Principal Accountabilities

Design data architecture by dealing with specific business problems and aligning it to enterprise-wide standards and principles

Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data

Develop and set data standards for Allica Bank, communicate the business benefit of data standards, championing and governing those standards across the company

Work with business and technology stakeholders to translate business problems into data designs

Creates optimal designs through iterative processes, aligning user needs with organisational objectives and system requirements

Log, analyse and manage problems in order to identify and implement the appropriate solution. Ensure that the problem is fixed

Experience

Proven work experience as a Data Architect

Strong understanding of the concepts and principles of Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Database architectures, design patterns, best practices, and programming techniques around relational modelling, dimensional modelling and data integration

Experience in reverse engineering data models from a live system

Strong understanding of activities within primary discipline such as Master Data management (MDM), Metadata Management and Data Governance

Experience in working with different data store and different data processing technologies

A strong understanding of data engineering and technologies

Knowledge of Azure Data Management tools (eg Azure SQL, Azure DW, Azure Data Factory, Spark, HDInsight,Power BI)

Familiarity with data visualization tools

Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts

Experience in Financial Services domain

Defining and implementing data governance and data architecture principles

Experience in working with both Agile and Waterfall development methodology practices
