Pay: £20–£30 per hour
Hours: 15 hours per week

TeacherActive is working with a pupil in Leicester who requires a patient, experienced and engaging Home Tutor to deliver personalised learning within a home-based setting.
The pupil is pre-verbal and has high-level autism. Learning will be delivered primarily through play, sensory activities and child-led engagement. The successful Home Tutor will build a trusting relationship with the pupil and create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who understands that progress may be measured through engagement, communication, emotional regulation and the development of everyday skills.
The successful Home Tutor will be responsible for:
Delivering 15 hours of personalised tuition each week
Planning engaging, play-based learning activities
Supporting communication and interaction through appropriate strategies
Adapting sessions around the pupil’s individual needs and interests
Supporting emotional regulation and sensory needs
Using effective de-escalation techniques when required
Recording progress and providing regular feedback
Working closely with parents, carers and other professionals
The successful Home Tutor will have:
Previous teaching or tutoring experience
Experience supporting pupils with high-level autism
Confidence working with pre-verbal or non-verbal pupils
A strong understanding of play-based and sensory learning
Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills
A calm, patient and flexible approach
Team Teach training is beneficial but not essential
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
