Geotechnical Engineer

Salary: £30,000 - £33,000 + Bonus incentives

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK's leading rail infrastructure consultancies during a period of sustained growth and high demand. Working across rail, highways, and major infrastructure projects, you will gain exposure to a diverse range of ground investigation and geotechnical engineering activities.

You will work closely with experienced engineers and project teams, developing your technical expertise while contributing to the successful delivery of high-profile projects. The role offers clear career progression, ongoing training, and the opportunity to work on technically challenging and rewarding schemes throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake and supervise ground investigation works across rail, highways, and civil engineering projects.
Carry out soil and rock logging in accordance with relevant industry standards.
Support site investigations, monitoring installations, and geotechnical testing activities.
Record, manage, and interpret geotechnical data collected from site investigations.
Prepare technical reports, factual ground investigation reports, and supporting documentation.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
Support project delivery teams to achieve programme and client objectives.
Participate in safety-critical rail activities where required.

Essential Skills

MEng, MSc, BEng, or BSc in Engineering Geology, Geology, Physical Geography, or a related discipline.
Full clean UK driving licence.
Ability to pass Personal Track Safety (PTS) medical, drug and alcohol screening, and training requirements.
Experience or understanding of ground investigations and site-based geotechnical activities.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
Comfortable working outdoors and travelling to project sites nationwide
