SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Lambeth
Salary: £26,803 - £27,597 Pro rata
Contract: Temporary until July 2027
The Role
Our client, a leading further education provider, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their SEN team on a temporary contract.
This rewarding role involves supporting young people and adults with severe and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, helping them access learning programmes, develop essential life and study skills, and achieve positive educational outcomes. Working on a one-to-one basis and with small groups, you will encourage independence, engagement and personal development while providing tailored support aligned to individual learning needs and EHCPs.
You may also be required to assist learners with personal care and mobility where appropriate, ensuring dignity and individual preferences are always respected.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide person-centred support to learners with SEN and disabilities
* Support access to lessons, college services and enrichment activities
* Promote independence, confidence and engagement in learning
* Assist with personal care and mobility when required
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers and external agencies
* Support learners to achieve educational and personal goals
* Contribute to a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment
Skills & Experience
* Good literacy and numeracy skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to build positive relationships with learners and stakeholders
* Strong organisational and administrative skills
* Good IT skills
* Understanding of safeguarding and equality issues
* Experience supporting individuals with learning difficulties
* Experience within a school, college or FE setting desirable
* Comfortable supporting personal care and mobility needs
