An exciting interim opportunity has become available with a well-established organisation. The business is seeking an experienced VAT professional to take ownership of indirect tax compliance activities, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance and strong financial controls across multiple entities.
This is a temporary assignment to provide additional support to an established VAT Compliance team during a busy period, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced contractor who can add value quickly and hit the ground running.
Your new role
This interim position will see you leading the delivery of VAT compliance and reporting obligations across a diverse business portfolio. Alongside managing day-to-day compliance activities, you will focus on enhancing processes, strengthening controls and supporting the wider business with technical VAT matters.
The role will involve:
Leading VAT compliance activities and ensuring regulatory obligations are met.
Reviewing and improving existing reporting processes and controls.
Partner closely with finance and operational teams to provide expert guidance on VAT-related matters and support business decision-making.
Supporting the delivery of accurate financial and tax reporting.
Acting as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders
Driving efficiency improvements through process enhancement and the effective use of technology.
Managing VAT-related projects and supporting business change initiatives.
Providing guidance on technical VAT matters and helping to mitigate risk.
Building strong relationships across finance, tax and operational teams.What you'll need to succeed
Professionally qualified accountant or specialist (ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent).
Proven experience operating within VAT compliance
Strong technical understanding of VAT and wider indirect tax legislation.
Ability to research and resolve complex VAT issues.
Experience working with complex financial data, reporting requirements and ERP systems.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build credibility and influence stakeholders at all levels.
A proactive and commercially minded approach, with a focus on problem solving and continuous improvement.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, challenge existing processes and implement practical solutions.
A collaborative mindset with the confidence to work across finance, tax and operational functions.What you'll get in return
