Engineering Manager

Opportunity for a dynamic Engineering Manager to lead and develop the engineering and planning function at this part 145 aviation maintenance organisation in Harlow. This is a hands-on leadership role combining people management with technical ownership and project delivery-ideal for someone who enjoys building teams, improving processes, and driving engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor and develop the engineering and planning teams, promoting collaboration, innovation and high standards.
Support performance management, coaching, and career development plans for engineers.
Recruit, onboard and retain top engineering talent.
Oversee end-to-end delivery of engineering projects, ensuring quality, time and budget targets are achieved.
Work closely with Planning, Quality and other stakeholders to define scope, requirements, milestones and resource plans.
Allocate resources effectively and prioritise workload to maximise productivity and output quality.
Drive technical decision-making and promote best practice in machining and engineering.
Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to processes, workflows and controls.
Communicate project status, risks and milestones clearly to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
Ensure outputs meet relevant standards, security policies and regulatory requirements; manage approved data and technical publications.
Undertake other duties within your capabilities as required.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years' engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership/management role.
A solid understanding of Part 145 aviation maintenance,
Proven experience delivering engineering projects.
Strong technical background and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Excellent leadership, communication and people management skills.
