Mechanical Assembler / Fitter

Are you mechanically minded with experience building, assembling or repairing equipment? Looking for a long-term opportunity with a successful engineering manufacturer?
We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering business in Peterborough that designs and manufactures specialist industrial machinery supplied to customers across the UK and internationally.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Mechanical Assembler / Workshop Fitter , offering the opportunity to secure a permanent role with ongoing training and development.
The Role
Working within a busy engineering workshop, you'll assist in the assembly and build of bespoke industrial machinery from engineering drawings.
You'll work alongside experienced engineers building high-quality equipment before it is installed at customer sites.
Your duties will include:
Mechanical assembly of bespoke machinery and equipment
Building sub-assemblies using engineering drawings
Using hand and power tools
Fitting mechanical components
Supporting machine build and final assembly
Identifying and reporting build issues
Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop
Occasional travel to customer sites to assist with installations
Every project is different, giving you the opportunity to continually develop your engineering skills.
We're looking for someone with:
Previous mechanical assembly or fitting experience
Ability to use hand and power tools confidently
Experience reading engineering drawings (preferred)
Good practical problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail
A positive attitude and willingness to learn
Ability to work independently and within a team
