You’ll be working closely with an experienced and approachable finance team, learning from them while also having the space to make the role your own. The business is a growing SME and has received significant investment over the last few years so there’s real potential for progression here, with a structured development plan in place from day one.
As well as being responsible for the management accounts you will line manage an Assistant Management Accountant, making sure they are supported and are continuing to learn and develop. Previous experience of mentoring/ supervising a small team would be ideal but isn't necessary.
The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified or part qualified CIMA/ACCA with in-depth full exposure to the management accounts process. Qualified by experienced candidates will also be considered.
This isn't just a tick-the-boxes finance role. It’s varied, hands-on, and the kind of role where you’ll get to see the impact of your work, whether that’s through supporting with financial planning, working with stakeholders across the business, or helping improve processes. Day to day, you'll get involved in:
* Producing full end-to-end monthly management accounts
* Variance analysis and commentary for senior stakeholders
* Supporting and developing the Assistant Management Accountant on a daily basis
* Helping with budgets, forecasts, and internal reporting
* Ensuring the cashflow forecasts are produced and submitted to deadlines
* Attending meetings with internal and external stakeholders
* Finance business partnering between finance and other departments
* Ensuring compliance with statutory returns
* Supporting junior team members and getting involved in training
* Balance sheet reconciliations, prepayments, accruals, rebates
* Playing a part in the year-end audit and statutory process
* Identifying ways to improve systems, reporting, and processes
What you’ll bring to the table:
* AAT qualified, part qualified CIMA/ACCA or qualified by experience
* Confident working with stakeholders and explaining numbers clearly
* Strong month-end / management accounting experience
* Previous experience of ideally mentoring or supporting team members in a previous role although this isn't essential
* Someone who enjoys improving processes and adding value
* A can-do attitude, good attention to detail, and a desire to keep learning
