Senior Quantity Surveyor
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure, roads, earthworks and utilities projects across Scotland.
The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered profitably while maintaining excellent commercial controls.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to work on major civil engineering projects within a growing business that offers genuine career progression.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the commercial delivery of multiple civil engineering projects.
Prepare, monitor and maintain project budgets and cost forecasts.
Produce monthly cost reports and commercial performance reviews.
Prepare applications for payment and client valuations.
Manage subcontract procurement, negotiations and contract administration.
Assess and agree subcontractor applications and final accounts.
Identify, value and negotiate variations and compensation events.
Ensure compliance with NEC and other standard forms of contract.
Work closely with operational teams to maximise project profitability.
Monitor project risks and implement effective commercial controls.
Attend client meetings and provide commercial advice throughout project delivery.
Mentor junior members of the commercial team.
Requirements
Essential
Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector.
Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
Experience managing infrastructure, highways, utilities or renewable energy projects.
Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical and financial reporting abilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying.
Membership of RICS or working towards chartership.
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
