About the Role
A market leading construction business has an exciting new project in Andover, developing a brand new supermarket. We are seeking a Senior Site Manager to take full responsibility for the successful delivery of this new build retail development. This role demands a proactive individual with strong leadership capabilities and proven experience managing medium to large scale construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organise and control all site activities to ensure the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Manage and supervise subcontractors, suppliers and site operatives, maintaining effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
Implement and uphold health and safety regulations and procedures, conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments.
Oversee site progress and prepare detailed reports for senior management and clients as required.
Monitor resource allocation, including labour, materials and equipment, to optimise efficiency and minimise waste.
Resolve day-to-day operational issues promptly to maintain project momentum and prevent delays.
Ensure compliance with all statutory and contractual obligations throughout the project.
Lead site meetings, coordinating with design teams, clients and statutory bodies to ensure alignment and address any challenges.
Maintain accurate site records including daily logs, safety documentation, and quality control checks.
Essential Qualifications and Certifications
Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Certificate
Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card
Current First Aid qualification
Full driving licence, clean and valid
Education and Experience
Proven experience as a Site Manager or Senior Site Manager within the construction industry, ideally with a focus on new build retail developments.
Strong track record of managing projects from inception to completion in line with programme and budget.
Relevant construction-related qualifications or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and Skills
Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials and health and safety legislation.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising effectively with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
Competent in project management software and Microsoft Office applications.
Good problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management or equivalent.
Experience working on new build supermarkets such as Aldi or Lidl
Working Conditions
Full-time contract position based on site in Andover, Hampshire.
Work primarily outdoors on an active construction site, subject to varying weather conditions.
Occasional requirement to work extended hours or weekends to meet project deadlines.
Compliance with all site safety protocols and personal protective equipment regulations is mandatory.
