Overview
Our client is a growing and well-established main contractor with an annual turnover of approximately £4 million, delivering high-quality new build construction projects across the South East.
Due to a strong pipeline of secured projects, they are looking to recruit an experienced Working Foreman / Working Site Supervisor to join their team on a long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys a hands-on role and wants to be involved in projects from groundworks through to completion.
The company delivers predominantly education sector projects, making quality, safety and professionalism key priorities throughout project delivery.
The Role
The Working Foreman will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations while remaining actively involved in site activities where required.
This is a genuine hands-on management role, requiring someone who is comfortable supervising trades, coordinating subcontractors, managing programme activities and contributing on the tools when needed.
The successful candidate must have experience delivering new build projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
Site Management & Project Delivery
Supervising daily site activities and ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently
Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site labour
Monitoring programme progress and assisting with project delivery
Managing site quality and ensuring works meet required standards
Conducting site inspections and resolving day-to-day construction issues
Supporting project delivery from groundworks through to final handover
Assisting with site documentation and reporting
Working Foreman Duties
Remaining hands-on and carrying out site-based work where required
Providing practical leadership and technical guidance to site teams
Supporting trades and subcontractors to maintain productivity
Leading by example with regards to safety, quality and workmanship
Health & Safety
Maintaining a safe and compliant working environment
Ensuring site procedures and health and safety standards are adhered to
Monitoring subcontractor compliance
Reporting incidents, hazards or unsafe working practices
Communication & Coordination
Liaising with site teams, subcontractors and senior management
Attending site meetings and providing progress updates
Supporting the successful delivery of programme milestones
Ensuring strong communication across all project stakeholders
Requirements
Previous experience as a Working Foreman, Site Supervisor or similar role
Proven experience delivering new build construction projects from start to completion
Comfortable managing site operations while remaining part-time on the tools
Strong understanding of construction processes and sequencing
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to lead site teams and subcontractors effectively
Strong problem-solving abilities and proactive approach
Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
Carpentry background
Previous education sector project experience
Current DBS Certificate
SSSTS or SMSTS qualification
First Aid qualification
