Are you a passionate and experienced Learning Support Assistant with a background working in SEMH and SEN settings looking for your next exciting opportunity? We are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to join a thriving all through specialist educational setting in Southend-on-Sea. This is a full-time, ongoing position as a Learning Support Assistant, an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The school aims to provide safe, meaningful, relevant, appropriate and stimulating learning opportunities that prepare all their students for their future lives.

Responsibilities:

As a Learning Support Assistant, your role will include:

* Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.

* Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

* Support students both in the classroom and during intervention activities.

* Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, resilience and engagement.

* Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to implement individual support strategies.

* Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.

Requirements:

* Level 2/3 Award in Supporting Teaching & Learning or equivalent, degree in Psychology or Education – Ideal

* Experience – As an SEMH/SEN Learning Support Assistant – Essential

* Empathy & Understanding – A nurturing, patient approach

* Strong Behavioural Management – Calm under pressure, supportive and consistent

* Adaptability & Resilience – Able to meet varied needs across different schools

* Excellent Communication – With pupils, staff, and families
