Senior Service Designer

Rate: £500 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract: Initial 3-month engagement
Clearance: BPSS
Location: Hybrid, with travel to a client site every two weeks

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Service Designer to support a large-scale digital transformation programme. The successful candidate will work within multidisciplinary teams to design and improve user-centred services, ensuring they are accessible, efficient, and aligned to GDS best practice.

Key Requirements

• Strong experience as a Senior Service Designer within complex organisations.
• GDS experience and a solid understanding of user-centred design principles.
• Proven ability to quickly embed into new environments, build trusted stakeholder relationships, and deliver value from the outset.
• Experience facilitating co-design workshops and driving collaboration across teams.
• Ability to coach and support colleagues in service design approaches and best practice.

Skills & Experience

• Mapping current and future-state service journeys.
• Creating service blueprints, personas, and experience maps.
• Information architecture and service design artefact development.
• Designing accessible digital services that improve user experience and encourage digital adoption.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working within Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.

Interview availability and the ability to start at short notice are essential.
