Description
We are pleased to introduce the role of Payroll Manager, which will strengthen our payroll operations and support our commitment to paying our colleagues accurately and on time. This role will support the Head of Payroll and Projects, while supporting the Payroll Supervisors and lead by example. As the Payroll Manager you will oversee all the payroll processes, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and work closely with HR and Finance to improve systems, reporting, and employee support.
Your place of work will be based in the offices in Worsley. We do operate a hybrid working policy and we expect the hours worked to support the business requirements.
Flexibility is offered with the business operating between the hours of 07:00 – 17:00 on a 37.5-hour contract.
Key Responsibilities
Support & manage Payroll Supervisor with their team of payroll Clerks
Manage and support payroll processing for all employees accurately and on schedule.
Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, tax regulations and employment laws.
Maintain accurate payroll records and employee compensation data.
Calculate salaries, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions
To include benefit in kind and pension calculations, to complete P11D records until in Real Time Information
Prepare payroll reports for management and regulatory authorities
Resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll queries.
Manage and support with payroll software and recommend system improvements
Coordinate payroll-related activities with HR, Finance, and external agencies including sending payment lists to Treasury in advance of payments.
Support preparing reports for management and regulatory authorities
Support to resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll queries.
Ensure timely payment of taxes, pensions and statutory deductions
Support internal and external payroll audits
Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures
Experience and Qualifications
Key Skills
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Leadership and team management abilities to support the payroll team with further development including the supervisors
Problem-solving and decision-making skills
Confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information
Time management and organisational skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced payroll department
Strong technical problem-solving skills, both written and verbal
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team
Forward thinking, able to anticipate risks an issues
High Level of integrity, professionalism, and business focused
Commitment to continuous learning and improvement by delivering to the payroll team
Required
Payroll Supervisory / Management experience with proven experience in a similar role with multi payroll environments
Strong advance Knowledge of payroll legislation, tax regulations and employment laws within payroll.
Experience using payroll, time management & HR systems
Advance proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting
Systems (preferred but not essential
