Operations Manager – Energy from Waste
Competitive salary + car allowance + bonus + private medical + pension

SCINERGY Recruitment is supporting an established Energy from Waste power station with the recruitment of an Operations Manager. This is a senior leadership position within a fully operational facility, responsible for ensuring the plant continues to operate safely, efficiently and in accordance with its environmental permit and planning conditions.
The Operations Manager will provide day-to-day leadership to the operations department, driving plant performance, team development and continuous improvement while working closely with the Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager and HSEQ team.
Key responsibilities
As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:
Leading and managing the operations department, including shift patterns, staffing levels and personnel availability
Ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently and within its Environmental Permit, planning conditions and other relevant consents
Managing the correct application of the site Safety Rules and Safe Systems of Work
Monitoring plant performance and producing regular operational reports
Managing and developing operations personnel through training, appraisals, coaching and performance management
Working closely with the Maintenance Manager to coordinate maintenance activities, breakdown response and defect reporting
Ensuring contractors are properly managed and controlled through the site’s Safe System of Work
Preparing and managing the operations budget and reporting performance against agreed targets
Driving continuous improvement to maximise plant safety, efficiency, availability and productivity
Deputising for the Plant Manager when required
Skills and experience
To be considered for this position, you should have:
Previous experience as an Operations Manager, Shift Manager, Shift Team Leader or similar within power generation or heavy process industry
Strong operational experience within Energy from Waste, biomass, CCGT, coal or a comparable process environment
A good understanding of Environmental Permits, planning conditions and regulatory compliance
Experience managing Safe Systems of Work and contractor activities
Proven leadership experience, including team development, appraisals and performance management
Strong commercial awareness, ideally including departmental budget responsibility
Excellent communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills
A relevant engineering qualification would be advantageous
