Job Title: Manufacturing Technician II (Machine Operator / Setter)

Location: Basingstoke (Houndmills Industrial Estate)

Pay Rate: £13.46/hr + 20% Shift Allowance (Total Rate: £16.15/hr | £33,500/yr equivalent)

Shift Pattern: Mon - Fri | Rotating Shifts: 06:00 - 14:00 & 14:00 - 22:00 (40 hrs/week)

Contract Duration: 6-Month Contract (Overtime Available)

About the Role

We are recruiting a Manufacturing Technician II for a leading global business based in Basingstoke. In this hands-on role, you will be setting up, operating, and maintaining cutting, forming, and machining equipment to produce high-precision workpieces.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Setup & Operation: Set up, adjust, and operate cutting, forming, grinding, or CNC/manual machine tools.

Tooling & Alignment: Select, install, and align drills, cutters, dies, and holding devices using hand tools and measuring instruments.

Quality Inspection: Read technical blueprints/job orders and inspect workpieces using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure strict dimensional accuracy.

Minor Maintenance: Perform routine machine care (oiling, cleaning, coolant top-ups, changing worn tools) and make minor mechanical/electrical adjustments.

Requirements

5-7 years of experience in machine setting, operating, or mechanical production environments.

Basic ability to read blueprints and technical engineering drawings.

Proficient with precision measuring tools (verniers, micrometers, calipers).

Comfortable working alternating weekly shifts (06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00).
