Quality Inspector – Afters Shift Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Quality Inspector to join a well-established manufacturing business in Barnsley on a permanent afters shift. This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a manufacturing environment who has experience using verniers, calipers and other manual measuring equipment.

Previous experience as a Quality Inspector is not essential. If you have worked within manufacturing, can confidently use measuring tools such as verniers, digital calipers and micrometres, and are looking to develop your career in quality, full training will be provided.

As a Quality Inspector, you will support both the Quality and Production teams by carrying out inspections, completing reports and ensuring products meet customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out internal chemical analysis of melts, checking results against specifications and producing 3.1 material certificates.
Perform dimensional inspections on manufactured lead components using manual measuring equipment including verniers, micrometres, digital calipers, protractors, radius gauges and steel rules.
Record inspection results accurately and complete reports for both internal and customer use.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Ensure measuring equipment is calibrated and maintained in good working order.
Identify and report non-conforming products and support investigations into quality issues.
Follow all health and safety procedures and report any near misses.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the inspection process.

What We're Looking For

Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of using verniers, digital calipers and other manual measuring equipment is essential.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Good attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
Strong communication skills.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Previous quality inspection experience is beneficial but not required. We are happy to consider candidates from machining, engineering or manufacturing backgrounds who are keen to train as a Quality Inspector.

What's on Offer?

Permanent afters shift working Monday to Thursday only.
Ongoing training and career development.
Opportunity to join a supportive and established manufacturing team.
If you're looking to take the next step in your manufacturing career and become a Quality Inspector, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today!
