Section Engineer

Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a major highways infrastructure project in Gloucestershire.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a high-profile scheme, working within a collaborative engineering team responsible for the successful delivery of highways and civil engineering works from planning through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and supervise Site Engineers and subcontractors on site

Ensure works are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme requirements

Oversee setting out activities and engineering controls

Review drawings, specifications and construction documentation

Coordinate temporary works, permits and work packages

Produce and manage ITPs, RAMS, quality documentation and as-built records

Monitor progress and provide technical support to delivery teams

Ensure compliance with project quality, environmental and safety standards

Assist with planning, sequencing and short-term programme management

Requirements

Previous experience working as a Section Engineer on major highways or civil engineering projects

Experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor

Strong understanding of earthworks, drainage, structures and highway construction

Ability to manage engineering teams and subcontractors

Strong QA and technical documentation experience

HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline

Certificates & Qualifications

CSCS Card

SMSTS preferred

First Aid at Work desirable

Full UK Driving Licence
