Financial Controls Manager – Permanent – Liverpool - £58,000 to £70,000 + Benefits
Our client is a large not for profit organisation that has grown considerably over the last 12 months and is now going through a period of great transitional change. We are now seeking a qualified technical accountant to help delivers the organisation's ambitious delivery plans. As the Financial Controls Manager, you will join a talented and committed finance team, and your role will be to support key finance stakeholders in the management and development of the financial control environment across the group.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure that all the processes are fully defined, properly documented and compliant with the relevant accounting standards to ensure good financial control
* Review routine finance processes and controls to ensure they are appropriate and highlight any risks
* Undertake regular testing across finance to ensure compliance and financial robustness
* Work with both financial and non-financial colleagues to ensure financial controls are applied to all key systems and processes
* Undertake a deep analysis and audit review of controls and processes across a range of financial outputs to formally identify an effective internal controls framework
* Work closely with the Finance Processing Manager and Financial Accounting Manager to ensure month end processes and procedures, such as balance sheet reconciliation and month end journals, are processed in a timely and accurate manner
* Monitor unresolved issues
* Raise awareness of the importance of strong financial controls
This will be a high profile role within the finance team and will be a key ambassador for finance.
The Person:
* It is essential you are a fully qualified accountant and would suit a first or second time mover
* Effective communication and negotiation skills are essential
* Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure
* Previous experience of working in a large and complex organisation
