Estates & Facilities Officer
Salary: Competitive + Benefits
We are recruiting for an experienced Estates & Facilities Officer / Caretaker to join a leading Further Education college as soon as possible. This is a varied, hands-on role ideal for someone with experience in building maintenance, facilities, caretaking or site management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping the campus safe, secure and well maintained, carrying out minor repairs, opening and securing buildings, supporting contractors and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the site.
Key Responsibilities
* Open, lock and secure college buildings as a designated key holder
* Carry out daily security patrols and maintain site security
* Complete planned and reactive building maintenance
* Undertake basic handyman duties including repairs, decorating and general maintenance
* Carry out routine compliance checks including emergency lighting and water testing
* Monitor fire alarms, security systems and building services
* Assist with porterage, room setup and deliveries
* Maintain external areas to a high standard
* Liaise with contractors and report maintenance issues
* Support the wider estates team to ensure a safe learning environment
Essential Requirements
* Previous experience in Facilities, Estates, Caretaking, Site Services or Building Maintenance
* Strong handyman and general maintenance skills
* Experience as a key holder or opening and securing buildings
* Flexible approach to working hours and shift patterns
* Able to work independently and manage priorities
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
* Experience working within a school, college, university or public sector environment
* First Aid qualification
* Experience supervising contractors
* Knowledge of compliance checks and building services
