My client, a leading civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced Foreman to join their team on a major tunnelling project.
Foreman Responsibilities:
* Supervise and coordinate day-to-day site operations, ensuring tunnelling and associated civil engineering works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to programme.
* Lead and motivate site operatives and subcontractors, maintaining high standards of productivity, quality, and health & safety.
* Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with project specifications, RAMS, permits, and company procedures.
* Work closely with the Site Agent and Site Engineers to plan daily activities and resolve site issues.
* Monitor progress, manage resources effectively, and report on site performance.
* Carry out site inspections and ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the project.
* Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Assist with the coordination of plant, materials, and labour to maintain programme targets.
* Maintain accurate site records, including diaries, briefings, inspections, and workforce attendance.
Foreman Requirements:
* Previous experience working as a Foreman on tunnelling, shaft construction, underground works, or major civil engineering infrastructure projects.
* Strong understanding of tunnelling methods, temporary works, reinforced concrete, and heavy civil engineering operations.
* Proven ability to supervise direct labour and subcontractors in a fast-paced construction environment.
* Good knowledge of health & safety legislation and industry best practice.
* Valid CSCS Card.
* SSSTS or SMSTS qualification is essential.
* First Aid at Work qualification is desirable.
