About the Role
Tradewind Recruitment is seeking confident, reliable, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in Sunderland from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced Cover Supervisors, youth workers, sports coaches, and individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain valuable experience within secondary education.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with the work that has been set and maintaining a positive learning environment. While you will not be required to plan lessons, you will play a vital role in supporting students and ensuring learning continues smoothly throughout the school day.
Opportunities are available on a day-to-day, short-term, and long-term basis across a variety of secondary schools throughout Sunderland and the surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the regular teacher
Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions
Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
Ensure students remain focused and engaged with their learning
Provide support and guidance where appropriate
Report back to teaching staff regarding student progress and behaviour
Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
