My client is a highly respected North West main contractor with a long-established reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across a range of sectors including education, healthcare, commercial, industrial, leisure, heritage, defence and public sector developments. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, my client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Preston.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Director and working closely with operational teams, you will take full commercial responsibility for multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior QS who enjoys operating autonomously while contributing to the wider success of the commercial function.

Key Responsibilities

Full commercial management of construction projects from award to completion.
Preparation and management of Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
Procurement and management of subcontractor packages.
Negotiation and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers.
Preparation and submission of interim applications for payment.
Agreement of variations and change control procedures.
Cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
Risk and opportunity management.
Preparation and agreement of final accounts.
Production of accurate monthly commercial reports.
Value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team.
Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally possess:

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
Ideally 15-20 years' Quantity Surveying experience within a main contracting environment.
Previous experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on construction projects.
Strong knowledge of JCT forms of contract.
Proven experience managing projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
Strong reporting and forecasting capabilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
