Female Support Worker — Community-Based Support (Driver Essential)

This post is subject to an occupational requirement that the successful applicant be female, in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, due to the personal care needs of the person being supported.

About the role

We are recruiting female Support Workers to support a young woman in her own home and out in the community. She has a learning disability, autism, Non-absence seizures and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).

She is sociable, curious and loves getting out and about — days out, activities and being part of her local community are what matter most to her. Community access is central to this role: a vehicle is provided, so you'll be supporting her to get out regularly and do the things she enjoys.

We're looking for people who will genuinely make a positive difference to her life, not just fill a shift.

What you'll be doing

* Supporting her to access the community, activities and appointments

* Driving the vehicle we provide so she can get out and about

* Providing personal care with dignity and respect

* Supporting with daily living — meal preparation, household routines and medication

* Responding calmly and appropriately to seizure activity and FND episodes in line with her support plan (full training provided)

* Encouraging independence, choice and confidence

* Accurate record-keeping and reporting

Essential requirements

* Female (occupational requirement, Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9 Part 1)

* Full UK or EU driving licence

* Confident and comfortable driving an automatic vehicle — you do not need your own car, as we provide the vehicle

* Right to work in the UK

* Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check

* Patient, reliable and genuinely caring

* Minimum of 6 months of working experience as a support worker in the UK

Desirable

* Experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, seizures or FND

What we offer

* Full paid training, including seizure awareness, FND, autism and positive behaviour support

* Ongoing supervision and career development

* The chance to build a real relationship with one person and see the difference you make

Apply now to make a genuine difference to someone's life.

Optimumcare4u is committed to safeguarding. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

This post is subject to an occupational requirement that the successful applicant be female, in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, due to the personal care needs of the person being supported
