Estimator – Civil Engineering & Infrastructure

Salary: Competitive + Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits

A well-established civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its growing commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator looking to work on a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

The successful Estimator will play a key role in preparing competitive tenders, analysing project costs, and supporting the successful delivery of bids from initial enquiry through to submission. Working closely with operational and commercial teams, you will ensure estimates are accurate, commercially viable, and aligned with client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

Review drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and other tender documentation.

Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.

Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.

Produce detailed pricing documents and supporting cost breakdowns.

Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the tender process.

Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings where required.

Maintain an up-to-date database of costs, rates, and supplier information.

Support the commercial team with handovers following successful tenders.

Requirements

Previous experience working as an Estimator within the civil engineering or construction sector.

Strong understanding of infrastructure, groundworks, highways, utilities, or general civil engineering projects.

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Excellent numerical and analytical skills.

Strong communication and negotiation abilities.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience using estimating software being advantageous.

Full UK Driving Licence.
