Learning Support Assistant - Specialist SEN Support

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join its experienced inclusion team from September 2026.

This rewarding Learning Support Assistant role will involve supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with a range of additional needs. The school is particularly interested in candidates who have experience supporting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties. Some pupils require structured behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies to help them access learning successfully.

Working alongside the SENCO, class teachers and external professionals, the successful Learning Support Assistant will help deliver personalised support both in the classroom and through targeted interventions.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND
Deliver interventions to develop communication, literacy and numeracy skills
Implement EHCP targets and behaviour support strategies
Promote independence, confidence and positive social interaction
Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
Build positive relationships with pupils, families and the wider school team

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a Learning Support Assistant who:

Has previous experience supporting children with SEND in a primary school
Is confident working with pupils with ASD, ADHD and communication needs
Can remain calm, patient and consistent when supporting pupils with additional needs
Works well as part of a collaborative inclusion team
Is committed to helping every child achieve their full potentialExperience with visual communication strategies, sensory regulation approaches or intervention programmes would be advantageous.
