The Role

As a CNC Miller – Setter-Operator, you will be responsible for setting and operating 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components in line with technical drawings, specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

Setting and operating CNC milling machines using Heidenhain and/or Fanuc controls

Setting work offsets, tooling, fixtures and workpieces, including the use of probes and manual methods

Producing complex components accurately and efficiently to drawing tolerances and customer requirements

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and production documentation

Monitoring machining processes and making adjustments to tooling and machine settings as required

Using inspection and measuring equipment to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy

Meeting planned production times, quality requirements and delivery schedules

Identifying and resolving machining and quality issues

Supporting continuous improvement, 5S and a safe working environment

Working collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors and engineers

Maintaining accurate production records and following all company, quality and health and safety procedures

About You:

The successful candidate will have:

Previous experience as a CNC Miller / CNC Setter-Operator

Experience setting and operating 3, 4 and/or 5-axis CNC milling machines

Knowledge of Heidenhain and/or Fanuc controls

The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

Experience setting tools, offsets, workpieces and fixtures

Experience using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers and plug gauges

The ability to produce components accurately to drawing tolerances and customer specifications

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot common machining issues

A good understanding of CNC machining and manufacturing techniques

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality

Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

A variety of working hours and shifts are on offer, based on a 37-hour week. This includes:

Day Shift Monday to Thursday: 7.30am–4.00pm, Friday: 7.30am–12.30pm

Late Shift Monday to Thursday: 2.00pm–midnight (30% shift premium on top of hourly rate)

Double-Day Shift Pattern (25% shift premier on top of hourly rate)Rotating between: Early shift: Monday to Thursday, 6.00am–2.00pm and Friday, 6.00am–11.00am

Late shift: Monday to Thursday, 2.00pm–10.00pm and Friday, 11.00am–4.00pm

The successful candidate will normally be based at their designated site, although there may be occasions where temporary assignments at another Bristol-based site are required to support customer demand, training, project work or operational requirements.

Salary & Benefits:

Competitive hourly rate depending on experience and skill level:

Operator: £12.92–£14.00 per hour

Advanced Operator: £14.00–£15.62 per hour

Setter-Operator: £15.62–£17.23 per hour

Programmer Setter-Operator: £17.23–£18.31 per hour

25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

Death in Service benefit of 2x salary after 12 months' service
