The Opportunity

A growing multidisciplinary surveying, engineering and building consultancy is seeking an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer to join their team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role within a forward-thinking business delivering structural engineering services across the UK.

The Chartered Structural Engineer will manage a varied workload covering structural inspections, designs, technical reports and consultancy advice. They will work closely with surveying and building consultancy teams while supporting junior colleagues and contributing to the continued growth of the business.

The Role

As Chartered Structural Engineer, responsibilities will include:

Leading structural engineering projects from initial inspection through to completion.

Producing structural designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports.

Undertaking site inspections and providing clear professional advice.

Managing project programmes, budgets and client expectations.

Ensuring work complies with relevant Building Regulations, British Standards and Eurocodes.

Collaborating with surveyors, building consultants and other technical specialists.

Mentoring junior engineers and supporting their professional development.

Building strong relationships with clients, contractors and external stakeholders.

Supporting business development and identifying opportunities for growth.

Travelling to project sites throughout the UK when required.

Required Experience

The successful Chartered Structural Engineer should have:

Chartered status with the Institution of Structural Engineers, or an equivalent recognised professional body.

A degree in structural engineering, civil engineering or a closely related discipline.

Strong experience in structural design, analysis, inspections and project delivery.

Sound knowledge of masonry, steel, concrete and timber structures.

Experience using recognised structural engineering design and analysis software.

Strong understanding of current technical standards and construction regulations.

Proven experience leading projects and managing client relationships.

The ability to mentor junior staff and review technical work.

A full UK driving licence and flexibility to attend sites nationally.
