Location: Peterborough Pay Rate: £15.00 - £23.00 per hour
Position Type: 12-Month Contract (Likely to extend) Working Hours: Monday-Thursday (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM), Friday (8:00 AM - 3:30 PM) Location Type: 100% Onsite
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our team in Peterborough. This unique, hybrid role combines operational management (70-80%) with hands-on technical exposure (20-30%), offering a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of site processes while developing your technical maintenance skill set.
You will take end-to-end ownership of our compressed gas supply and management-ensuring smooth operations, compliance, and stock availability-while also supporting equipment maintenance and calibration alongside our engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Gas Systems & Stock Management: Take ownership of ordering, certification auditing, inventory control, and physical handling/setup of compressed gas systems.
Supplier Coordination: Liaise with suppliers to manage stock flow, maintain compliant documentation, and resolve operational supply issues.
Compliance & Auditing: Maintain strict safety and certification standards to support seamless operational continuity.
Technical Maintenance & Calibration: Assist with total preventative maintenance (TPM), equipment servicing, diagnostic investigations, and first-line breakdown cover on analytical equipment.
Team Operations: Serve as a key operational anchor, supporting the wider team and ensuring continuous facility uptime.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Education/Qualifications: Level 3 Apprenticeship (electro-mechanical, engineering, science, or similar technical discipline) or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
Stock & Inventory Control: Proven experience in stock control or inventory management, ideally with regulated materials or pressurised gases.
Supplier Interaction: Experience with ordering processes, supplier communication, and maintaining compliance documentation.
Technical Mindset: Ability to read technical drawings/schematics, follow written instructions, and apply basic root-cause analysis.
Software Competency: Comfort using inventory/procurement systems and standard tools like MS Excel.
