The Opportunity

An established civil engineering and groundworks contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join the team on a project near Finchley.

The project is entering its final phases, with a strong focus on completing external infrastructure works including kerbing, road construction, paving, and soft landscaping. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for driving the finishing works through to practical completion while ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and programme delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Manager with a strong background in groundworks and civils who enjoys delivering projects through their final stages.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the final phases of the groundworks and civils package.
Oversee the installation and completion of kerbs, roads, footpaths, paving, and external finishes.
Coordinate hard and soft landscaping works to programme.
Manage and supervise subcontractors, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
Monitor progress against the programme and resolve any issues affecting delivery.
Carry out quality inspections, snagging, and ensure a high-quality finish across all external works.
Enforce health and safety procedures and maintain full site compliance.
Coordinate plant, material deliveries, and site logistics.
Work closely with the Project Manager, Engineers, and commercial team to ensure successful project completion.
Maintain accurate site records, RAMS, permits, and daily reports.

About You

You will have previous experience managing groundworks and civil engineering projects, with particular experience delivering finishing works on highways and external infrastructure.

You will also have:

Previous experience as a Site Manager working on groundworks and civils projects.
Strong knowledge of kerbing, road construction, drainage, paving, and landscaping.
Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
A proactive approach with the ability to deliver projects safely, on time, and to a high standard.

SMSTS
CSCS Card
First Aid at Work
Desirable

Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor.
NRSWA Supervisor or other relevant civils qualifications.
