Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
Salary: £95 - £130 per day (Dependent on Experience)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term

Supply Desk are seeking a motivated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and supportive school in Portsmouth.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic HLTA who is passionate about helping pupils achieve their full potential while supporting high-quality teaching and learning across the school.

Working closely with class teachers and the wider support team, you will lead learning activities, deliver intervention programmes and provide classroom cover when required. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking initiative, building positive relationships with pupils and contributing to a thriving school community.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver planned lessons and provide whole-class cover in the absence of the class teacher.

Support teaching and learning across a range of year groups, adapting to the needs of the school.

Lead small group and one-to-one interventions to support pupil progress.

Work with pupils of varying abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEND).

Assist with planning, preparing and delivering engaging learning activities.

Promote positive behaviour and create a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.

Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals to support pupils' development.

Requirements

HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant role.

Previous experience working within a UK primary or specialist school.

Confident leading whole-class learning and delivering planned lessons.

Excellent behaviour management and classroom management skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Flexible, proactive and able to adapt to different classroom environments.

Passionate about supporting children's academic, social and emotional development.

Committed to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment for all pupils.
