SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Salford from September 2026.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of additional learning and developmental needs, both within the classroom and through targeted interventions. You will play a key role in ensuring all pupils can access learning opportunities and make positive progress.

You may support pupils with:

Additional learning needs
Communication and interaction difficulties
Social, emotional, and mental health needs
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Physical or sensory needs
Moderate to complex learning difficulties
Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
Assist pupils in accessing classroom learning and activities.
Support the delivery of tailored learning interventions.
Encourage pupil engagement, participation, and independence.
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and wider school staff.
Monitor and record pupil progress where required.
Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Support personal care needs where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
Is patient, caring, and passionate about supporting pupils to succeed.
Understands the importance of inclusive education.
Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Is adaptable and able to respond to individual pupil needs.
Holds a relevant qualification in education, childcare, health and social care, or a related field (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
