Mechanical Maintenance Technician – West Scotland – Days Only
We are working on the behalf of a chemicals manufacturer who are looking for a mechanical maintenance technician with welding experience based in West Scotland.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure good working conditions and safety standards are maintained within all areas of maintenance operations.
* Ensuring the permit to work system and any other safety system (Hot Work, Confined Space, Work at Height, lifting, slinging and rigging etc.) are strictly adhered to.
* Should take responsibility for self and coworkers to strictly adhere to the policies, procedures and instructions set for the organization.
* Responsible for carrying out maintenance on all mechanical machinery allocated to him to a high quality and efficiency on time by the method statements produced by the Inspectors and Planners.
* Responsible for carrying out, precision set up and alignments on key equipment to the design specifications.
* To supervise subcontractors as required.
* Responsible for constantly up-dating his superior on work progress and results of defects observed, inspection carried out pertaining to his field of operation and should be in a position to locate and organize spares in the absence of the superior.
* Responsible for maintaining tools and tackles in the right quantity and in good working conditions and uses them properly.
* Notifying Maintenance Manager of any issues related to Food Safety.
* Working on a Rota basis to cover the needs of the plant and willing to work additional hours, if a need arises, according to the overtime rules of the company.
* Willing to take up any duties/job allocated to them for which they have the skill, experience or ability to carry out safely.
* Undertake all training required to full fill required duties and improve individual skill sets.
Qualifications / Experience:
* HNC / HND Mechanical Engineering or equivalent + recognized apprenticeship.
* Time served Mechanical technician – 3-4+ years post apprenticeship experience.
* Experience in a continuous process industry environment.
* Ability to read the mechanical drawings, and process P & ID’s.
* Fitting and Maintenance of mechanical equipment and mobile plant.
* Understanding and working on hydraulic system.
* Strong welding and fabrication procedures are highly preferred.
* Slinging & Lifting.
* Commitment to maintaining and improving Health & Safety standards.
* Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
* Ability to work well within a small team or independently.
* A willingness to embrace change and drive for continued improvements.
* Flexible and willingness to work on-call or out of hours when necessary. Current Rota includes working one weekend out of five.
