Role Overview

We are looking for a senior full stack developer with proven experience with node.js development to join a blended Civil Servant and Solirius team working for a public sector client.

Our client is going through a programme of digital transformation modernising their services in line with the government Service Standard (formerly Government Digital Standard, GDS).

Development includes working on front and Back End components working within an Agile team of business analysts, developers and quality assurance engineers as well as UCD and product.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and experience with TypeScript.

• Strong knowledge of Node.js and asynchronous programming.

• Strong experience with Express.js, or other Node.js frameworks.

• Experience with Gov.UK Front End and working with frameworks including Nunjucks.

• Understanding of RESTful APIs and API design best practices.

• Familiarity with databases - SQL and NoSQL (eg. Redis).

• Knowledge of authentication and authorisation (JWT, OAuth).

• Experience with unit testing, integration testing and end-to-end testing (Jest, Mocha, Chai, Cypress).

• Proficiency in using package managers like npm or Yarn.

• Understanding of containerisation (Docker) and working with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure Devops).

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure).

Soft Skills & Experience

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues.

• Knowledge of Git and collaborative development (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).

• Understanding of code quality, performance optimisation, and security best practices.

• Experience working with third-party APIs and integrations.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
