Contract: Permanent
Start date: ASAP
We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Management Accountant to join our Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in providing accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls, and supporting the continued development of our finance systems.
If you're a qualified (or finalist) accountant who enjoys working closely with operational teams, improving processes, and producing meaningful financial information that supports business decisions, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
As Management Accountant, you'll report to the Fractional Finance Director and work alongside another Management Accountant to support the day-to-day running of the Finance function. You'll be responsible for producing monthly management accounts, maintaining strong financial controls, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and helping to drive continuous improvement across finance processes.
You'll also play an important role in the implementation of our new ERP system (Odoo), helping to improve reporting, streamline processes, and support the ongoing development of the Finance function.
What You'll Be Doing
* Preparing accurate monthly management accounts and supporting business reporting.
* Producing variance analysis, KPI reporting, and financial insights.
* Preparing accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
* Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring.
* Assisting with month-end and year-end close, annual audit, and VAT returns.
* Managing financial records, bank reconciliations, and supporting debtor and creditor control.
* Supporting purchase ledger, sales ledger, and credit control activities where required.
* Assisting with stock valuation, work in progress calculations, and operational finance reporting.
* Supporting the implementation of our new Odoo ERP system and identifying opportunities to improve financial processes.
* Working collaboratively across the business to provide accurate financial information that supports operational decision-making.
This role is suited to someone who enjoys producing accurate monthly management accounts and improving financial processes. It is not a trainee or finance assistant position.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting skills with a practical, hands-on approach. You'll be comfortable working in a fast-paced SME environment and enjoy improving systems and processes.
You'll also bring:
* CIMA or ACCA qualification (or be a finalist with significant relevant experience).
* At least five years' experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
* Proven experience producing monthly management accounts with minimal supervision.
* Strong balance sheet reconciliation, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting experience.
* Excellent Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP and Power Query.
* Experience using ERP systems such as Sage, SAP, Dynamics, Oracle or Odoo.
* A strong understanding of VAT and HMRC compliance.
* Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
Why Join Us?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business where finance plays an integral role in supporting operational performance and future growth. You'll work closely with senior leaders, contribute to key business decisions, and help shape improvements to our financial systems and processes while gaining valuable experience supporting the rollout of a new ERP platform.
How to Apply
If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, we'd love to hear from you. Please send your CV and a covering letter describing the monthly management accounts you currently produce and your role in preparing them
