The Role
A leading food manufacturing business is looking to strengthen its Supply Chain team with the appointment of a Materials Planner. This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials availability for weekly production, protecting output and minimising waste across a fast-paced operation.
You will take ownership of material planning for assigned categories, ensuring stock is available in line with the production plan while working closely with suppliers, Warehouse, Planning and the wider Supply Chain team. The role requires someone who is organised, analytical and confident managing multiple work streams in a dynamic environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a materials or supply chain professional who wants to develop further within a growing food manufacturing business and take on broader responsibility over time.
Key Responsibilities
Own short term material planning for assigned categories
Ensure materials availability to maximise weekly production output Manage and report on short term waste
Oversee ordering of chilled ingredients, Sheard packaging and ad hoc short term requirements
Investigate material shortages and conduct root cause analysis
Work closely with Warehouse to manage capacity and stock flow
Manage blast freezing and tempering processes to minimise waste
Provide holiday cover for the Supply Chain Coordinator
Support the Long Term Raw Materials Planner when required
Manage change amend requirements
Create and maintain accurate input into the MRP system
Work collaboratively with Planners and the wider Supply Chain team to find solutions and develop opportunities
Build strong supplier relationships and liaise regularly to ensure material availability
Carry out reasonable requests from line management as required
The Person
Proven experience in materials management or a Supply Chain role
Qualifications in Supply Chain or related fields desirable
Commercial awareness gained from previous roles desirable
Experience using systems such as Microsoft Navision, Microsoft Excel and other supply chain platforms
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple work streams
Team player who can also work autonomously Professional, confidential and reliable Approachable, flexible and methodical with strong attention to detail
Determined, enthusiastic and positive
Analytical and numerate
Food manufacturing knowledge desirable
Genuine interest in food and the manufacturing process
