Project Engineer – Electromagnetic Compatibility
Bristol based - (relocation assistance support offered)
Security clearance: British Citizen. Please note that nationality and/or right-to-work restrictions may apply, and successful candidates will need to complete BPSS checks after offer stage.
Hybrid working: 2–3 days per week on site, depending on workload classification.
We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist engineering client for a Project Engineer – Electromagnetic Compatibility to join a high-performing EMC team supporting complex programmes across the full engineering lifecycle.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an electronic design engineer who wants to apply their skills in EMC, design assurance and bespoke test development within a technically challenging environment.
What you’ll do
* Support projects across the full engineering lifecycle with a focus on EMC and radiation effects.
* Provide design-for-EMC advice and guidance to project teams.
* Develop test plans and bespoke electronic test solutions.
* Support the creation of unique test capability within the facility.
* Work closely with engineers across analogue and digital design disciplines.
* Contribute to good EMC practice across products, systems and sub-systems.
What you’ll bring
Essential
* Higher education or significant experience in Electronics, Electrical, Physics, EMC or a related field.
* Significant experience in electronic design, development and delivery.
* Experience leading substantial electronic design work packages.
* Strong problem-solving skills and solid knowledge of electronic technologies.
* Experience using SPICE simulation tools such as LTspice or OrCAD.
* Ability to work to deadlines and within budget.
* Confidence working independently to meet delivery needs.
Desirable
* Good understanding of EMC and design principles.
* Experience applying military EMC standards at system, sub-system or equipment level.
* Previous experience supporting electromagnetic compatibility work.
* Familiarity with standards such as Defence Standard 59-41 / 59-411, AECTP500, MIL-STD-461, RTCA DO-160 or EUROCAE ED-14.
