Job Title: IT Support Engineer

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 p.a.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday (08.00am – 17:00pm)

Due to expansion, Next Generation are currently recruiting for an IT Support Engineer to work with a leading global manufacturer who produce machined components supplying predominantly into the Aerospace industry. As the IT Support Engineer you will be responsible for the owning, securing and continuously improving the group IT environment ensuring high availability, robust cybersecurity, and a seamless technology experience aligned to operational objectives.

Duties of the IT Support Engineer:

* Own and maintain the full IT infrastructure across all UK sites (servers, endpoints, networking, cloud tenancy).

* Ensure high system availability, performance and resilience in line with agreed service levels.

* Lead cybersecurity controls including MFA, endpoint protection, patch management and vulnerability remediation.

* Maintain and test backup and disaster recovery processes, ensuring documented and validated restore capability.

* Provide 2nd/3rd line technical support and act as the primary escalation point for infrastructure issues.

* Manage Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune and Exchange Online administration.

* Maintain Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.

* Oversee network infrastructure (firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi and site connectivity).

* Support and optimise ERP/MRP systems and related manufacturing integrations.

* Manage third-party IT providers, contracts, licensing and hardware procurement.

* Lead and deliver IT projects (e.g., migrations, network refresh, system upgrades).

* Develop and maintain accurate IT documentation including asset registers, network diagrams and policies.

* Train and support end users, promoting structured ticketing and digital best practice

* Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives aligned to business growth and acquisitions.

* Translate technical risks and investment needs into clear, commercially focused reports for leadership.

* Troubleshoot Remote Workers (VPN Issues)

* Meeting targets and SLA’s

* Working with 3rd party vendors where required

The successful candidate for the IT Support Engineers position will have the following experience:

* 3 – 5 years experience working with IT Infrastructure (Essential)

* CompTIA Network+ / Security (Essential)

* Networking basics; TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WI-FI Connectivity (Essential)

* Identity Management; Active Directory, Azure AD basics (Essential)

* Hardware: PC builds, Peripherals, printing, cabling (Essential)
